The next Clan MacRae Gathering will take place in Scotland from 29th July 2015 to 2nd August 2015.
It will use a familiar format, beginning in Edinburgh on Wednesday 29th July with an evening reception following the now traditional “march” up the Dry Dam to the summit of Arthur’s Seat following the clan piper, Jimi. On Thursday 30th July it will move on to Stirling and Sheriffmuir and the 100 year old monument. It is hoped that there will be exciting developments here since the clan is involved in the creation of a new “Sheriffmuir Heritage Trail” The action then moves on to Kintail where a full programme of events will take place around Eilean Donan, Dornie, Glen Shiel and Glenelg until the again traditional closing at Clachan Duich at the head of the loch on Sunday 2 August.
This will be an important year for the clan as 2015 marks both the 300th Anniversary of the Battle of Sheriffmuir and the 100th Anniversary of the erection of the Clan Monument there. It is planned that a commemoration of the battle will take place during the Clan Gathering and again on the anniversary of the battle on 13th November.
We have American guests staying with us for four days who are attending the Clan MacRae gathering over in Kintail. A lot of the events will take place in the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. There is always plenty going on in Skye and Lochalsh.
