New malt whisky distillery planned for Skye
The Isle of Skye is to have a new malt whisky distillery. The new distillery only the second on the Hebredian island will be created within a listed early 19th century farm steading at Torabhaig in the Sleat Pennisula. It will cost around five million pounds and employ around eight people. Construction work is expected to begin in early Summer. It is expected that the first new spirit will flow from Torabhaig by the end of 2015. The other distillery on the island produces Talisker single malt.
