Active Fairtrade Group on Skye
This is Fairtrade Fortnight which takes place from 25th February- 10th March. There are many special offers available at the Co-operative stores on Skye. I attended a coffee morning this morning in Breakish village hall, many supporters of Skye Fairtrade were in attendance. I met two supporters Antony and Justin Davies, they have the Blue Shed Cafe in Torrin. This a great stop off on the way down to Elgol, it must be the most scenic cafe around, the views of Blaven are magical. We are delighted to be involved with Fairtrade locally , we provide our guests with a refreshment tray in their bedrooms, there is a variety of Fairtrade products. We also serve Fairtrade beverages at breakfast time for our guests, at todays coffee morning I was presented with a certificate recognising Allt a Choire B&B as a Fairtrade supporter. Currently Broadford and Dunvegan are recognised as Fairtrade villages. A new Skye Fairtrade group has been formed, they are working towards getting the whole of the island Fairtrade status. Let’s hope they are successful and more businesses take part.
